I’ve been building responsive websites that work well on mobile, tablets and desktops for some time now. But my own website has been overdue for a freshening– so I’ve rebuilt it using the latest version of WordPress.
I’ve built sites using many content management systems and enjoyed working with all of them– beginning with WordPress and then working with Shopify, ExpressionEngine, and Perch. All of these are great content management systems and each one has features to recommend it.
However, I’ve come around full circle now and it’s time to get to know WordPress again. In some ways, I think content management systems like Perch, ExpressionEngine and Drupal are better-designed. But…
The fact is that WordPress is ubiquitous, ensuring that additional plug-in functionality, new features and the great support community will be there when you and I need it. It also has outstanding ease-of-use, making it simple for site owners to easily update their sites themselves.
In short, WordPress is a better fit for the types of clients I work with and for the types of website they need.
The practical benefits trump more elegant design, so it’s back to WordPress I go!
